2021-08-31 Meeting Minutes - Frameless Motor
- Maybe do "master modeling" to design the motor
- Fasten the lid
- Bond the rotor to the shaft
- talk to an applications engineer from the supplier to get mounting recommendations
- Encoder placed off the back end of the shaft - magnetic on-axis encoder (RLS, MPS)
- 3 bearings, not 2. You can find some decent quality bearings that are cheap
- No need to take into account heat dissipation
- Minimum tolerance of 1 thou before people start to hate you
- Estimated cost of 2-3 grand
- Have the wires escape at a portion of the joint that does not see much movement
- Try to do everything with clocksprings or cabling
- Aluminum for housing
- Looking at 12V/24V/48V motors, get the ones we can get the fastest (what's available to us)
