Rx Cheat Sheet
Log in to Accuro and navigate to the Patient.
The prescription module is integrated into Accuro and can be accessed in several ways:
EMR → Encounter Notes → Active Medications → Green + for New / Yellow star to prescribe from favorites / Pencil to renew or edit.
EMR → Medications Tab → New Prescription.
EMR → Encounter Notes → from within a clinical note → below the black line → Active Medications.
Shortcut Buttons
Quick New Patient Actions – Ctrl + F10 or Edit Rx quick button.
No matter how you access the module, the steps are the same and start with medication search (see below).
Medication Search
In the Medication Search window, you can search by drug name or by classification (e.g., contraceptive).
Type in the portion of the medication name and press Enter or click the magnifying glass to search.
A list of medications matching your search will display.
If medication is not found – check your spelling, alternative names, or simplify your search.
You can also check the show expired box in the lower portion of the Medication Search window.
The medication you are looking for may have been expired by Health Canada and is no longer considered Active.
Click once on the medication name to select it. This will load the Add Prescription window where details are entered.
Prescription Details
Once a medication is selected, Accuro will display the medication, strength, generic name, and DIN #. There are several required fields you must complete.
Generate the Prescription
Click OK to complete the prescription.
Accuro will display a preview so that you can review before finalizing.
If you need to make a change press BACK to get back to the Rx details.
Press:
Print to print out the prescription.
Fax to fax directly to the pharmacy.
Close to add the medication to the patient chart without printing or faxing.
