Winter 2024: Team Restructure Leads Meeting

Main goals:

  1. Have good training for members

  2. Have best practices clearly outlined

  3. Make “work spaces” easily accessible to members

  4. Have a clear roadmap of term objectives 

  5. Work with passion, and bring new members up the ranks so that they can have more lead roles 

Team objectives

  1. Focus on the drivetrain… we need something working

  2. Electrical: Get some boards shipped so we can pass it on to firmware

  3. Firmware: Get some people started working on some firmware for those boards… or at least the state of them

  4. Team effort: Put together a working buck of our rover that we can test on electrically, for software, and for firmware

  5. Software to start working on driver dash, health checks, and controls (with sensors)

  6. Mech: Pull together new drivetrain, with fittings for new motors, new encoders, the carbon fiber drivetrain, and wheels

  7. Software can also work on autonomy in simulation in the meantime

  8. Start having some teamwide work sessions during the week

 

For subteams

  1. Focus on having good trainings so that people can get involved

  2. Focus on having good working environments (inclusive), in person sessions (working together), and good workspaces (easy CAD access. Task management, etc.)

 

Mech this term

  • Machining edge pieces for drivetrain

  • Start on machining the parts

  • Wheels

  • Sensor mounts

 

Electrical

  • Working session during weekly meetings

  • Current PDB working; buck converters somewhat working but need to be fixed

  • Electrical to work on firmware first

  • Electrical/firmware to setup the “rocky nervous system”

 

Software

  • Simulation stuff

  • Drivetrain software

  • User interface

  • Basic comms
