September 22th, 2022 - Firmware Term Planning Update - F2022
New Members
get an estimate on how many people are interested in firmware
Training
Training may discourage new member retention this term - instead lets try to get new members to work on science inputs and outputs on arduino
All of the sensors for soil
Metal capacitive sensors
Motor control (reading RPM, position control, reading from limit switches, etc)
Creating small testing controllers for all of these modules
Need to test servos for test tube lid, dino lite camera
Meet with electrical and mechanical to make sure things work
Documentation page for context?????
yes, bring it up to date with all motor specs
ignore science board for now, fully test mechanism off or Arduino
Active Tasks
CAN Communication
Current state of the CAN module is unknown. Jesse was working on it previously, but it is unknown if it is currently working
Jahnavi to focus on getting the full state of the CAN module understood and work on getting it fixed
Sync with Melvin and Cindy to understand current state
See if we can get some assistance from Cindy this term
Nico can focus on getting the motors up and running for testing (using nucleos, discontinuous from CAN module)
Repository for firmware was being transition to modular layout, once the CAN module is fixed up the rest of the repo can be updated
repo for arm, gimbal, drivetrain, PDB, BMS, science
needs CAN module to be in a working state before this can get worked on
Unknown if firmware support for comms is required
check to see if there is a repo for antennae
