Approval Policy - course changes from reps

PURPOSE

During different times of the scheduling cycle the need for time change approval changes. Sometime we do not require any approval at all for a time change when it’s submitted to the scheduling office from a scheduling rep, and other times we need Associate Dean approval.

PROCEDURE

Preliminary schedule release:

If there are any changes requested before the students are sectioned into the courses:

  • No approvals of any kind will be required at this point (with the exception of level 1 and 2 instructor constraint changes/additions).

Final schedule release/Quest/Web Schedule of Classes has been updated:

  • Time changes (whether or not students are enrolled) also need to be approved by the Associate Dean (or alternate).

After sectioner has run and students are placed in real sections:

  • Time changes as well as cancelling of sections where students are enrolled must have the approval from the Associate Dean before the request is sent to the Scheduling Office.

  • Any section that does not have enrolment in it yet - requests for a time change will still need Assoc. Dean approval unless time on the same day(s) of the week is being reduced.

  • Approval is not required to: cancel a section where students are not enrolled, adding a section/timeslot to an existing course or adding a new course entirely.
