Deleting a Component or Class Section

Overview:

This procedure provides steps for deleting a component or class section.  It describes how components associated with a class section can be looked up, and then deleted.

A class section can be deleted using the Schedule of Classes panel group on the Basic Data panel.

A class component can only be deleted using the Class Associations panel group on the Class Components panel.

Business Process

This process allows a component or class section to be removed from the schedule of classes and/or from the Class Associations panel group

PeopleSoft Navigation

Curriculum Management → Schedule of Classes → Maintain Schedule of Classes 

Curriculum Management → Schedule of Classes → Adjust Class Associations

On the Find an Existing Value—Schedule of Classes dialog box, in the Academic Institution field, accept the default of UWATR.

In the Term field, type the appropriate term code or select if from the drop-down list.

From the Subject Area look up list, select the desired subject area.

To view only class sections for a certain class, in the Catalog Nbr field, type the desired catalog number, otherwise leave it blank to return all available class numbers

Click the Search button or press Enter.

A list of the scheduled classes for the selected term and subject area appears in the bottom of the dialog box.

From the list, select the desired class by clicking it once.

 

The Basic Data panel appears

If a course component that is not going to be scheduled this term is listed, proceed to the Class Association panel group to remove the component there.

If the course component is scheduled on a section, click on the Enrollment Cntr tab.

Delete the 1st or 2nd Auto Enroll Section field (whichever component you are deleting) from the primary component(s).

Proceed to the Basic Data panel, find the correct component that you are removing within the Class Sections.

Click the blue minus button to delete this section and then click the yellow save button.

To exit the Schedule of Classes panel group, on the tool bar, click the yellow return to Search button, or click on any of the navigation points left of the Schedule of Classes on the navigation map above the panel group.

Proceed to the Class Association panel group to delete the component from there as well.

On the Find an Existing Value—Class Associations dialog box, in the Academic Institution field, accept the default of UWATR.

In the Term field, type the appropriate term code or select if from the look up list.

To view only classes for a particular subject area, from the Subject Area look up list, select the desired subject area.

To view only class sections for a certain class, in the Catalog Nbr field, type the desired catalog number, otherwise leave it blank to return all available class numbers.

You can also search using the Academic Career, Campus, Description, Course ID, or Course Offering Nbr fields.

Click the Search button or press Enter.

A list of the scheduled classes for the selected term and subject area appears in the bottom of the dialog box.

From the list, select the desired class by clicking it once to select it.

 

All data on the panel defaults from the Schedule of Classes panel group.

Click on the Class Components tab.

Click on the blue minus button for each course component requiring deletion.

Click on the yellow Save button.

To exit the Class Associations panel group, on the tool bar, click the yellow Return to Search button, or click on any of the navigation points left of the Class Associations on the navigation map above the panel group.

You must leave one component scheduled on this panel at all times
