Skills

  • Sensor integration design

  • 3D printing

  • Low level sensor signal processing

Task Description

  • Proximity limit switches are used as end-stop failsafe triggers on each of the arm joints

  • These sensors send a high signal when a ferrous metal is detected within its sensing range

  • On axis 4, there is currently a placeholder proximity limit switch mounted but no dedicated piece of metal or feature to trigger a sensor pulse

  • This task will require a designer to assess the current position of the limit switch, determine if there is an appropriate trigger that can be installed to trigger a high signal 360degrees, and potentially redesign and reinstall a sensor mount / trigger

  • The current location of the proximity limit switch is not finalized and can be moved at the designers discretion

Task Breakdown

Assess the current position of the sensor mount in CAD (determine if there are any potential interferences)
Determine if a sensor trigger can be installed on an interface on the forearm (A5/A6)
Determine if the proximity switch needs to be located
Update arm CAD with sensor mount/trigger concept
Propose design idea for switch + trigger to mechanical lead
Update the design as required
Fabricate all required components, install on arm

Prerequisites
