Task Description

Redesign electrical box to ensure adequate temperature management & monitoring for desert conditions. High temperatures within the electrical box can lead to overheating of electrical components (causing potential damage). Ebox should be dust/dirt-proof and provide exterior ports to connect to the rest of rover hardware.

Task Breakdown

Determine concrete list of items in this year’s ebox
Determine scope of ebox redesign
Update next steps after redesign scope has been established

Progress Journal

  • Aug 16, 2022 @Austin Tailon Huang

    • Task created

  • Nov 13, 2022 PDR completed

    • Need to figure out how to integrate with battery & gimbal

    • Main thing to investigate is placement of internal components (which need greatest accessibility)

    • We have $2k from Protocase for URC electrical enclosure

    • Electrically insulate (ensure stray wire touching box won’t fry drivetrain)

  • Mar 28, 2023 Handed over task to Yuming

  1. Internal layout (coordinate with electrical)

    1. Back: gimbal, comms, led matrix,

    2. Front: Drivetrain Odrives,

  2. External ports

  3. Fix the CAD

    1. adding ports, mating connections for mounting to base (3D printed mounts)

  4. Simulation

    1. flow

    2. thermal

  5. Drawings
