Task Description

  • One of the tasks the arm must complete at competition is unscrewing a bolt

  • The current gripper design does not have an integrated allen key

  • Instead, it was planned to design a custom allen key tool that would fit within the gripper, and keep the allen key concentric with the axis of rotation of the end effector

  • Only a very rough prototype of this tool has been designed. A need exists to design an improved custom allen key tool to fit within the gripper

  • After the allen key tool is designed, a location/holster for the tool should also be designed on the chassis. this will act as a storing point for the tool s.t. it can be accessed easily by the arm when required

Task Breakdown

Create design concepts for allen key tool and stowing method
Review design concept with mechanical lead, select a design
CAD design
Fabricate design and order any required parts
Assemble tool and hoster onto rover
