Accessing and logging into Microsoft Teams
Microsoft Teams can be accessed through a browser, desktop app or mobile app. Each of these methods is described in this article.
To access Microsoft Teams using your University of Waterloo credentials, you must have an active Microsoft 365 (M365) account.
Please note that some features require a Microsoft Teams Premium license. For more information and how to request a Premium license, please see About Teams Premium .
Using a browser
Navigate to office.com and log in to your M365 account using your 8-character UWaterloo username @uwaterloo.ca (e.g. myuserna@uwaterloo.ca) and password
You will be redirected to the main M365 page. Click on the App launcher waffle icon.
Click on the Microsoft Teams icon
Using the desktop app
Microsoft Teams can be installed by selecting the Download for desktop option from this site https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/microsoft-teams/download-app.
Once downloaded, you will be prompted to sign in with your 8-character UWaterloo username @uwaterloo.ca (e.g. myuserna@uwaterloo.ca) and password.
Using the mobile app
The Teams app can be installed from the Google Play Store for Android devices and from the App Store for Apple devices. Teams can also be installed using Download for mobile option from this site https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/microsoft-teams/download-app .
To log in to the mobile app, use your 8-character UWaterloo username @uwaterloo.ca (e.g. myuserna@uwaterloo.ca) and password.
Note: Some Microsoft Teams features have better functionality when used in the mobile version in comparison to the browser and desktop app (i.e. Shifts).
