Task Description

  • The new carbon fibre drive-train will use structural epoxy to fasten the carbon fibre tubes the joints of the suspension mechanism

  • The current design of the joints must be updated to reflect this change in assembly.

  • The new design of the joints must meet the following criteria:

    • Easy to assemble - one or two people should be able to assemble the drive-train within 30 minutes given all the necessary components & tools without assistance

    • Tubes and joints must survive a drop from 1 meter with minimal impact to the performance of the drive-train

    • Updated joints should designed for machining (manual or CNC)

Task Breakdown

Determine the forces experienced by each tube and joint during a 1 meter drop
Source an appropriate type of epoxy that will be strong enough to survive a 1 meter drop
Update the design of the joints with DFA/DFM in mind
Prepare 2D drawings for manufacturing

Prerequisites

  • There is no prerequisite for this task
