Task Description

Design and assemble the Multiphase Buck Converter

NOTE: It is my (Logan Hartford) recommendation that this project is discontinued due to the complex nature of the power design. Without a significant investment of effort and research, this board will never work.


Task Breakdown

Create a schematic diagram for Multiphase Buck Converter
Order components from the supplier
Create PCB layout
Assemble the Multiphase Buck Converter
Test the Multiphase Buck Converter
Build up a second buck and determine if it is a hardware or design issue

Prerequisites

Progress Journal

  • Schematic capture is complete and has been reviewed

  • Parts have been ordered

  • PCB layout is complete

  • PCBs have been ordered, waiting on shipping

  • Power resistors have been purchased for the purpose of testing the buck

  • Sep 21, 2022 Ticket Created

  • Sep 20, 2022 Boards have been received

  • Sep 24, 2022 Assebmling boards

  • Basic powered and unpowered tests are complete. Blocked for now.

  • Oct 22, 2022 Currently the buck does not work. Could be a hardware issue or a design issue. Building up a second board will be the fastest way to tell. Looking into off the shelf replacements to take the pressure for comp off.

  • Nov 12, 2022 An off the shelf replacement has been sourced
