How to Sponsor WatIAM Accounts

To submit a WatIAM Sponsor request please submit via the IST portal: https://uwaterloo.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/2/group/410/create/317

In order for the request to be acted upon the following information must be provided:

  • Name of the to be sponsored account

  • WatIAM of the to be sponsored account

  • Name of sponsor for the account

  • WatIAM of sponsor for the account

  • Duration of the sponsorship

Within the form please specify that you need help with ‘WatIAM Account Sponsorship’

Within the Account sponsorship section please select what operation is needed for renewals you would need to select 'Renew a sponsorship (WatIAM currently sponsored by you or your request participant).

After specifying that the request is for a renewal, if you aren’t going to be sponsoring the account yourself you should include who will within the submitted ticket as a required participant.

Provide the WatIAM of the to be sponsored account as well as the duration of the sponsorship, a sponsorship can have a maximum duration of 3-years.

The Submitter will also need to specify what Department the account resides within, for us it is the Faculty of Arts.

Another workflow is:

  1. Creating the ID is WatIAM with appropriate sponsor

  2. Creating the security group in NEXUS that will be used to control access

  3. Set description and e-mail address (arts-mbx-account@uwaterloo.ca) managed by adminDescription(O365GroupSync) for Azure syncing values for security group

  4. Populate security group

  5. Request the shared mailbox from IST using the newly created security group

  6. Set the friendly e-mail address in WatIAM after mailbox is created.
