    1. Use Wi-Fi in class for schoolwork only

    2. Using Wi-Fi for other reasons hinders connectivity for other users

    3. Use Wi-Fi on necessary devices only

    4. Refresh Wi-Fi once in room

How to connect to the eduroam wireless network (Android)

  1. On your phone, swipe down from the top of the screen to open the Quick Settings drop-down menu. Tap the Wi-Fi icon to turn Wi-Fi on. The button should be coloured and not greyed out. Tap on Wi-Fi drop-down menu below the icon to open the list of available Wi-Fi networks.

  2. Select the eduroam network.

  3. In the pop-up window, populate the necessary fields to match the screenshot below, then tap Connect. (username@uwaterloo.ca, your 8-character username email e.g. j25rober@uwaterloo.ca)

4. You will now be connected to the eduroam wireless network.

How to connect to the eduroam wireless network (iOS - iPhone/iPad)

  1. On your device, tap on the Settings app on your home screen.

  2. Tap on the Wi-Fi setting. Make sure the Wi-Fi is turned on; tap the toggle button so that it is green.

  3. Select eduroam from the list of available Wi-Fi networks.

  4. Enter your 8-character username@uwaterloo.ca (e.g. j25rober@uwaterloo.ca) and password, then tap Join.

  5. You will be prompted to accept a certificate in order to connect. Tap Trust.

  6. You will now be connected to the eduroam wireless network.

How to connect to the eduroam wireless network (Windows 10)

  1. On the bottom-right corner of your screen, click the network icon in the taskbar. In the list of available wireless networks, select eduroam.

  2. Click the Connect Automatically option to allow your device to connect to the eduroam network automatically. Click Connect.

  3. Enter your UWaterloo login credentials. Then, click OK. (Your username is your 8-character username, e.g. j67smith)

Password: Enter your password

4. Click Connect to connect to the eduroam network.

5. You will now be connected to the eduroam wireless network.

How to connect to the eduroam wireless network (Mac)

  1. Click the Wi-Fi icon in the top menu bar on your Mac to expand the list of available Wi-Fi networks. Select eduroam.

  2. In the pop-up window, enter your UWaterloo login credentials. Then, click Join. (username is your 8-character username, e.g. j25rober)

3. You will now be connected to the eduroam wireless network.

Troubleshooting

  1. If you have issues with eduroam connection:

    1. Try removing the network profile and reconnect to it again

    2. Go to network settings in your device, forget or remove eduroam

  2. If you are unable to see eduroam as an available Wi-fi network:

    1. This is an issue with Intel Drivers, they require an update

      1. Search Device Manager in Windows

      2. Go to Network Adapters and look for an entry containing wireless/Wi-Fi, which will be the Wi-Fi driver

      3. Click Properties > Drivers > Driver version > Update Driver
