Connecting to Eduroam on a cell phone

Eduroam is the on-campus wireless network managed by IST. Connecting to eduroam can be a bit difficult if you don’t know the process. If you need some assistance connecting to eduroam on your mobile device then read on!

Instructions

  1. Open your Settings app and open the Wi-Fi section.

  2. Ensure your Wi-Fi is toggled on and then select the eduroam wireless network.

  3. You may need to input additional connection parameters, specifically on Android and Blackberry devices. Use the following settings.

    • EAP Method: PEAP

    • Phase 2 Authentication: MSCHAPV2

    • CA Certificate: (Unspecified)

    • User Certificate: (Unspecified)

  4. Enter youruser@uwaterloo.ca and yourpassword for the username and password fields respectively. On Blackberry and Android devices, leave the Anonymous identity field blank.

    • If you are prompted for Advanced options, use the following settings.

      • Proxy: None
        IP settings: DHCP

  5. Tap Join or Connect as per your device. Apple devices will then be prompted to Trust a certificate in order to connect to the network. Tap Trust.

  6. You should now be connected to the eduroam network.
