Microsoft 365 Employee Email

New to Microsoft 365 email? See ourĀ Post-migration instructions for Microsoft 365Ā email.Ā All new employeesĀ have their email account created in Microsoft 365.Ā 

In this article:

Access the Microsoft 365 email accountĀ inĀ aĀ browserĀ 

  1. Login to office.com using your 8-character username @uwaterloo.ca (e.g.Ā myuserna@uwaerloo.ca)Ā and password

2. Select theĀ Outlook app listed on the left-hand side of the page:

Set up aĀ Microsoft 365Ā emailĀ accountĀ onĀ a desktopĀ

Note: Outlook isĀ recommended to be used with Microsoft 365 email accounts

If using other mail clientsĀ that support Exchange,Ā details required for setup are:Ā

Exchange/Connect distribution listsĀ 

Owners ofĀ 'on-premisesā€™ distributionĀ groups/lists can still use them, however,Ā groupĀ owners who have their email in Microsoft 365 willĀ need to log into http://connect.uwaterloo.ca/ecpĀ toĀ edit them,Ā at this time.

Another option is toĀ contact yourĀ IST Account rep (Academic Support Departments) Ā or IST Account Rep (Faculties)Ā toĀ edit your groups for you.

Shared email accounts

ā€˜On-premiseā€™ shared email accounts--access providedĀ viaĀ aĀ security group--will likely need to be re-added to OutlookĀ after your account is moved to Microsoft 365.
(Note, thatĀ generic accounts--accounts that have their ownĀ password--will likely not need to be re-added at this time.)Ā
