Microsoft 365 email configuration guides

Microsoft Outlook is recommended for the best experience with Microsoft 365 email. Other email clients listed below may also be used. Note your responsibilities when choosing to use a third-party client.

Details required:

Username: Your 8-character University of Waterloo username followed by @uwaterloo.ca (e.g., myuserna@uwaterloo.ca)
Server: outlook.office365.com
Domain: uwaterloo.ca

Outlook for Microsoft 365 for Mac Mac OS X Mail

Outlook Web App (OWA): https://outlook.office.com Use the username, server and domain (above) with a Linux client that supports modern auth.

iPhone / iPad Applies to devices using iOS 18.0 or higher If the Outlook for iOS app is incompatible with your device, use the built-in Mail app on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch Outlook for Android Gmail App

Third-party email clients

Third-party email clients may be used where compatible with Microsoft 365. Third-party vendors may make changes or release updates to their applications that affect compatibility with Microsoft 365.

If you choose to use a third-party email client, it is your responsibility to:

Keep the application and your device operating system up to date.
Confirm that your application and version continue to support Microsoft 365 and the authentication methods required by the University of Waterloo.
Review compatibility information and updates provided by the application vendor.
Update your application or move to another recommended email client if it is no longer compatible.

For the most consistent Microsoft 365 experience, use Microsoft Outlook or Outlook on the web.
