Change your !bang account password
Step-by-step
In order for these instructions to work you must be connected to the Campus VPN and be in the Remote Desktop Users group on the computer you are accessing.Â
MacOS users can complete these steps by remotely accessing a University of Waterloo-managed Windows computer
If you do not have remote access to a University of Waterloo-managed Windows computer please submit a request to IST.
Log into a University of Waterloo-managed Windows computer with your !bang account using !username and current password
Simultaneously press the Ctrl+Alt+Delete keys on your keyboard (Note: If you are using a Remote Desktop connection this will be the Ctrl+Alt+End)
An options window will appear. Click on the Change a password button
The Change a password window will appear, complete the fields as follows;
Enter the !bang account username (without @uwaterloo.ca)
Enter the current !bang account password
Enter a strong new password. The new password must be different from your old password AND different than your WatIAM password
Confirm the new password (Note: this must match the previous field)
Once the password change is completed click on the Windows Start button in the lower left corner
Click on the Account icon or picture
Click on Sign out
Once signed out log into a University of Waterloo-managed Windows computer using your !bang account username and updated password
Connecting from a Mac to a Windows computer
MacOS does not include built-in remote desktop software. You will need to download a remote desktop client from the App Store. We recommend you use the latest version of Microsoft Remote Desktop
In order for these instructions to work you must be connected to the Campus VPN and be in the Remote Desktop Users group on the computer you are accessing.Â
Enter your registered hostname as hostname.uwaterloo.ca
Use Nexus\username if you are logging into a Nexus computer, or computer name\account name if it is not a Nexus computer.
Use your WatIAMÂ password.
