Blocks are the different components on a page that displays content. Blocks are placed within the regions of in a Section within in the Layout tab of a content type.

How to add a

Blocks are added through a page’s content type’s Layout tab.

  1. From the administration bar, select Workbench, and then select My Dashboard.

  2. Navigate to the Content list panel and select the content you would like to edit.

  3. Select the Layout tab.

  4. Select +Add section, if applicable.

  5. Select + Add block.

  6. Choose Select a Block block type from the Content list (types of blocks are listed below)  

  7. Configure the Block block information.  

  8. Select Add block.  

  9. Change revision state to Draft, Needs Review, Published or Archived. This field is located at the top of the Layout builder page.

  10. Select Save layout.

Blocks are edited through a page’s content type’s Layout tab.

  1. Hover and select the pencil icon on the upper right of the Blockblock.  

  2. Select Configure. The Configure block window will show the options associated with the Block typeblock.

  3. Make your desired changes and then select Update.  

  4. Select Save layout.  

How to move a

Blocks can be moved through a page’s content type’s Layout tab.

  1. Select Hover and select the pencil icon on the upper right of the Blockblock.  

  2. Select Move. The Move block window will show the Region region with a drop-down field listing the Sections sections you can choose to move the Blockblock. You can also move the Block block by dragging and dropping the Block block into your chosen Section.

  3. Select Move.  

  4. Select Save layout.

Blocks can be deleted through a page’s content type’s Layout tab.

  1. Select Hover and select the pencil icon in the upper right of the Blockblock.  

  2. Select Remove block. The delete Block Remove block window will ask you if you are sure you want to remove the Blockblock. This action cannot be undone.

  3. Select Remove.  

  4. Select Save layout.

  • Banner image: a A banner photo with a caption and optional link that can rotate through 8 different pictures/videos as a slideshow.

  • Blockquote: emphasizes Emphasizes quotes and text in a contained space with an option to display a title and quote attribution (smaller text under the Quote text). 

  • Call to action: prompt Prompt on a website that directs the user to take a specified action.

  • Copy text: text Text content.

  • Expand/collapse: hide Hide content under headings that users can click on to view the hidden information below.

  • Facts and figures: a A visualization of facts and figures about the department/faculty/initiative.

  • Image: adds Adds a full-width or sized image on a page or Section region.

  • Image gallery: showcase Showcase a selection of images with optional captions.

  • Links: Adds links to a page. There are multiple different styling options for links, with the options to include icons and background images.

  • Mailman subscription: allows Allows site visitors to sign up for a mailing list registered with the Mailman service.

  • Related links: adds Adds links with link text onto a page.

  • Tags: Adds tag(s) to highlight content for a specific audience.

  • Timeline: lets Allows site visitors to scroll through past, present, and future events. These events can be marked with text, images, or both.
