Sections

What are sections?

Sections build the layout of a content type (e.g. a web page) and are comprised of columns and regions in a variety of configurations. Once a section layout is chosen, Blocks can be added to each column or region. Multiple sections can be added to a content type.

Sections are arranged into various layouts of columns and regions including:

  • One column

  • Two columns

  • Three columns

  • Four columns

  • Inverted “L” – left

  • Inverted “L” – right

After a section layout has been chosen, the Configure section window will appear with the following fields:

Administrative label: this is an optional field if you wish to label the section. This label will not be visible to page visitors.

Column widths: this field determines the percentage of space within the page each column or region will occupy.

Section ID: this is an optional setting that is used to support an anchor link to this block. For example, entering "feature" lets you link directly to this section by adding "#feature" to the end of the URL. IDs should start with a letter, may only contain letters, numbers, underscores, hyphens, and periods, and should be unique on the page.

Background: sections can include a background. Either a solid colour or an image can be selected.

Section width: sections can be styled to have different widths on a page, which include:

  • Narrow contained width

  • Wide contained width

  • Extra-wide contained width (Default)

  • Full width

Existing Sections width can be changed by selecting Configure Section, at the top left of the corresponding section. Each section is numbered chronologically. The X icon to the left of Configure Section deletes the section. This action cannot be undone.

Section spacing: the spacing between sections can be changed.

Section separator: places a line between two sections.

Column separator: when selecting more than one column, the column separator section will appear. This places a line between two columns.

Section alignment: when selecting more than one column, the section alignment section will appear. This gives you the option to have your content aligned at the top, centre, or bottom of the section.
