  • Hello everyone, my name is Anna Fyfe, the representative from the UWRobotics business team, and I will be presenting our WEEF proposal for spring 2021.
  • The UWRobotics team is one of Waterloo's oldest design teams. We have over -INSERT HERE- active members across multiple faculties and we are dedicated to robotics innovation and outreach
  • We attend the University Rover Challenge every year. This is a competition held in the Mars Desert Research Station, where over 90 universities come to compete in building a Rover that could eventually work on Mars alongside astronauts
  • This term, there are three important categories of items we want to buy that are necessary to facilitate assembly for our 2022 Rover
  • Our proposal begins with our mechanical requests for this semester. -INSERT HERE-
  • The tools and equipment are necessary to replace our old or broken equipment. They are necessary for the mechanical assembly of the rover, and are crucial in making the assembly process easier and possible. Without these, some of the assembly procedures are impossible to complete.
  • Our electrical components consist of -INSERT HERE-
  • Finally, here are our software and firmware requests. -INSERT HERE-

  • This chart summarizes all of our requests with a few options for leeway

-UPDATE-

  • Although the competition was cancelled last season due to the pandemic, we received our highest-ever finals qualifying score of 92.6/100
  • For the 2022 season we want to build upon our success and set up a goal to place top 10 globally with a new Rover design
  • In order to redesign our Rover, we actively reach out to both in-kind and monetary sponsors. So far this season, we already have 28 external sponsors

  • Finally, I just want to go over the impact that UWRobotics has on our students

We not only give -INSERT HERE- engineering students invaluable hands-on experience that teaches them both practical robotics design, but also teaches them teamwork and self-driven learning

Not only that, but Robotics is also dedicated to outreach and community engagement. We’ve participated in events put on by the SDC, by Eng Orientation, WiSTEM, Engineering Outreach, and more!

  • Past WEEF purchases have been crucial to our performance at competitions, and we’re super thankful for that. We hope that WEEF is able to continue supporting us, and thanks for taking the time to watch this presentation!
