PHR 2009/2024 Crestron A/V System
Introduction
The technology in PHR 2009 and 2024 support projecting audio and video from both a PC and Laptop with the following equipment:
Crestron A/V Control Touchscreen Panel
Bluetooth Keyboard with a Built-in Trackpad
PC and Monitor
Laptop Projection using a HDMI cable (note that if your laptop does not have an HDMI port, you will need an adapter to connect)
Sound System
Video Projector and Screen
Note that unlike rooms PHR 1004, 1008 and 1012, the lights in PHR 2009 and 2024 are not controlled by the system.
Powering On
On the touchscreen panel, select either Laptop or PC to power on the system. You can switch between the two sources after the system has turned on.
When powered on, the screen will automatically lower.
Using the PC
You can log into the PC with your UWaterloo account.
The monitor and projector are the same display, so you cannot extend the display between the projector and monitor. This means that whatever is displayed on the monitor will also be displayed by the projector. If you need to hide what is being projected while still using the PC and monitor, you can mute the image by pressing the “Image Mute” button in the top right corner of the touchscreen, and selecting mute image.
If you are using the PC, please log out of the PC before shutting down the system. Shutting down the system will not shut down the PC.
Using a Laptop
Both rooms only have an HDMI Adapter to connect to the projector. If you do not have a HDMI port on your laptop, please bring an adapter that works with your laptop.
To project from a laptop or any other device that can be connected (e.g. an iPad), select “Laptop” as the source.
You can extend your displays so that the monitor/projector and your laptop show different images. Note that the monitor and projector are the same display, so you can only have two different explains. This also means that anything displayed on the monitor will also be projected.
If you plan to play audio from your laptop, ensure that the sound output is set to Crestron.
Note that there are no microphones currently set up in either room. This means that if a microphone is needed (e.g. for a hybrid meeting with a video call), you need to use your laptop’s microphone.
Switching Input
Select the input you want (PC or laptop) from the bottom of the touchscreen panel to switch input. There is no need to restart the system to switch input.
Audio
Audio can be controlled by selecting the Audio button at the bottom of the screen. The slider can be used to adjust output volume. Note that turning the PC/Laptop volume to 0% with the sliders may not mute the audio completely. Instead, mute the sound by selecting Audio Mute in the top right corner of the touchscreen and then selecting Mute Sound.
Microphones
There is currently no microphone set up in either rooms. If connected with a laptop, you can use the laptop’s built in microphone if it has one.
If you require a microphone in these rooms, please inquire with Pharmacy IT.
Powering Off
Select “Off” on the touchscreen panel, then “Yes” to shut down the system. This will raise the screen automatically.
Problems
Keyboard/Trackpad isn’t working
Check that the keyboard is powered on. There is a switch on the top edge of the keyboard that should be switched on, and the switch should be green.
Check that the keyboard does not have Num Lock turned on.
Monitor isn’t displaying anything
Check that the monitor is turned on (there should be a light on the bottom right of the monitor). If there is no light, turn the monitor on with the button on the bottom right of the monitor screen.
The monitor can only be turned on when the projector is turned on. If you need to use the PC but do not want to project, start projecting but mute the image to stop projecting.
Nothing is projecting
Check if image is muted. If there is a green yield symbol () in the top right corner where it says “Image Mute”, then the projector is muted.
Other Issues
Try restarting the system (powering off and then on again).
If this does not fix the problem, contact Pharmacy IT at phr-it@uwaterloo.ca or by submitting a ticket to the Pharmacy IT Service Desk.
