Health Meeting Owls

What is the Meeting Owl?

The Health Meeting Owl is a video/audio conference camera, microphone and speaker. After you see it, you will understand its name.

Meeting Owl is designed to be used in smaller meeting rooms with a screen/TV at one end of the table. It works well when placed in the centre of a room.

Meeting Owl can be used with Windows or Mac computers and most of the commonly used video conferencing solutions. Please consult the list of supported and tested platforms.

How do I book it?

There is a Meeting Owl located in BMH-3119 (you don't need to book it for this room) and another is a bookable resource (in the Bookable Equipment calendar). Simply create a calendar meeting and invite the "HLTH Meeting Owl" as an attendee (search for "HLTH Meeting Owl"). Your request will be moderated and (most likely) approved.

Thirty (30) minutes prior to the start of your meeting, pick up the Meeting Owl from Health Computing in LHS-1626.

How do I use it?

  1. Follow the set-up instructions in Get Started with your Meeting Owl (don't worry about downloading the app - you don't need it).

  2. Refer to "How to start a meeting in your video conferencing platform" for detailed instructions for the software you are using.

Where do I go for help?

Please contact Health Computing if you need assistance setting up or using the Meeting Owl.

Troubleshooting the Owl

If the Meeting Owl isn’t showing up for you on your computer, try the following:

  1. Make sure that the owl is connected to your device and cable is connected to the Owl and has power (should have eyes lit up)

  2. If Owl already powered on, unplug the power brick two halves and wait 15 seconds then plug it back in.

  3. Reboot your computer or device.
