Motor Experimental Testing Design

Goals:

  • Identify that the motor is able to achieve its nominal torque

  • Identify a maximum torque capacity of the motor and a related duty cycle without damaging equipment.

  • Characterize the current-torque behaviour

of the motor to determine if the motor’s dynamic torque output can be interpolated using the rated torque constant.

  • Torque will be read form the dynamometer

  • Phase current of the motor will be read using the ODrive

  • Data will be synchronized and compared in real time

  • Possibly define a new torque constant that better models the loading of the motor at 24V

  • Obtain parameters required to model motor with in SimulationX

  • Might have to interpolate graph based on attainable torque input resolution
