Enabling auto backup for OneDrive

Using OneDrive to store files has many benefits. One of these is the ability to enable automatic backups. If you want to learn how to enable this feature, then you’ve come to the right place!

This process should only be followed by off-campus staff. On-campus staff cannot automatically sync to OneDrive, however, they can still use OneDrive for storing old and important files

Ensure that your laptop is not an on-campus machine by going to This PC > Properties. The Domain should be set to WORKGROUP or HOME.

Instructions

  1. Click the OneDrive icon on your taskbar, click Help & Settings, and then click Settings.

  2. Under the Backup tab, click Manage Backup. Select which folders you would like to backup and click Start backup. You can view the progress of your sync by clicking View sync progress.

  3. Once the sync has finished, the selected folders will be backed up to OneDrive. Any changes to these files will affect the versions in OneDrive. The files will be accessible from any device on any network.
