Automatically backup mobile phone photos to OneDrive

Photos and videos can take up a large amount of space on your phone. Backing up your photos to OneDrive allows you to free up that space for other data. If you’re interested in doing so, this guide will walk you through how to enable automatic backups from your mobile device.

Instructions

  1. Download the OneDrive app to your phone and sign in.

  2. Tap your profile picture in the top-left, tap Settings, and then select Camera Upload.

  3. Toggle the desired account(s) and settings and allow OneDrive access to your photo library.

  4. OneDrive will now automatically backup your photos and videos. Depending on the size of your library to backup, this process may take a while.

  5. The “Files” tab of your home screen should now have a folder called “Pictures”. You can now delete the photos and videos from your phone’s native library app as they are backed up to OneDrive.

  6. Your phone will continue to sync photos and videos with OneDrive in the future without any user input.
