Using AV equipment in BMH-2116
BMH-2116 has a TV with two HDMI connections (one hooked up to a computer in the room and the other that can be connected to a laptop computer). There is also a video conferencing bar.
Using the computer in the room
Power on the TV using the remote or use the ON/OFF button located on the bottom of the screen (centre)
Power on the keyboard using the switch on the edge of the keyboard
Press the spacebar to wake up the computer
Wait for HDMI 1 input to be detected by the TV or press the Source button at the top right of the remote until HDMI 1 (or Room PC) is selected as the source on the screen.
Using the wireless keyboard, sign in on the computer using your UW UserID and Password
Use the keyboard and trackpad to launch programs. Use the front USB ports on the computer for memory sticks.
When done:
Sign out of the computer
Power off the keyboard using the switch on the edge of the keyboard
Power off the TV using the remote or use the ON/OFF button located on the bottom of the screen (centre)
Using your own computer
Get your computer ready to present - powered up, logged in and ready to go.
Connect the cable from the TV to your computer (HDMI cable marked with white tape).
Power on the TV using the remote or use the ON/OFF button located on the bottom of the screen (centre)
Wait for HDMI 2 input to be detected by the TV or press the Source button at the top right of the remote until HDMI 2 is selected as the source on the screen.
Using a Mac? We recommend setting your display preference to “Scaled” at 1080P or to the same size as your laptop screen.
When done:
Disconnect the HDMI cable from your computer and neatly wrap
Power off the TV using the remote or use the ON/OFF button located on the bottom of the screen (centre)
Using Video Conferencing
The room is has an all-in-one videobar (built-in video cameras, microphones and speakers) that can be used with computer-based video conferencing on platforms such as Teams, Webex, Zoom. Instructions for setting up and using the videobar are on the https://uwaterloo.atlassian.net/l/c/uim02RQ1 page.
