Video Configuration

The Crestron system can project video from a PC, Laptop, or Document Camera (DocCam). To get started, select the Dual Image option or This Room Only if you are projecting in PHR 1012. Follow the steps numbered below to set up your local presentation.

Overflow Projection

You may also want to project to neighbouring lecture halls. Only rooms PHR 1012 and PHR 1004 support this function. When in overflow mode, anything said into the main room’s microphone will also project to the overflowed rooms, but there is no way to communicate from the overflowed rooms to the main room.

Select the desired overflow option on the Crestron panel interface before moving on to the next section. You can stop the overflow projection by selecting Switch Mode on the Crestron panel interface.

In the GIF below, we are overflowing from PHR 1012 to PHR 1008. The GIF demonstrates how to stop the overflow projection.

PC

  1. Select the PC tab on the bottom control panel of the Crestron projector's screen.

  2. Tap the red X under each display and Classroom Sound.

  3. Tap the send button. Your PC's display should be visible on each projector and the preview monitor.

Image mute

The projected video can be hidden by tapping the IMAGE tab at the top right of the Crestron panel screen and then tap the MUTE BOTH tab circled in the image below.

This can be useful if you are making changes on your PC or laptop that you would like to hide from the audience.

Laptop

  1. Connect the HDMI cable to your laptop. The HDMI cable transmits video and audio.

  2. Connect the USB cable to your laptop.

  3. Connecting the USB cable also allows you to use the classroom cameras and microphone instead of your laptop camera and microphone. Press the button above the LT label on the switch to activate this feature. You should see a camera icon appear on the camera app as shown in the red circle in the image below.

Clicking the camera icon will switch between using your laptop camera and the classroom cameras.

  1. Select the Laptop tab on the bottom panel of the Crestron projector's screen

  2. Tap the red X under each display option and Classroom Sound.

  3. Tap the send button. Your laptop's screen should be visible on each projector and the preview monitor.

To stop streaming to any display, tap the green checkmark underneath the display icon and tap the send button again to update your change.

Extending the display

There are several reasons you may want to extend your laptop display. During a presentation, a useful technique is to use the extend option to view your notes on your laptop while your presentation is being displayed on the projection screen and the preview monitor.

Windows
  1. Right-click anywhere on the laptop’s desktop and select Display settings.

  2. In the Display settings window, scroll down to the Multiple displays section and click on the dropdown menu.

  3. Select the Extend desktop option.

  4. You can also arrange the position of the monitors by dragging and dropping them in the diagram at the top of the Display settings window.

  5. You can also adjust the display settings for each monitor separately. To do this, click on the monitor icon at the top of the Display settings window, and select the monitor you want to configure.

  6. Once you have finished configuring the display settings, click on Apply to save the changes.

That's it! Your external monitor should now be extended and ready to use.

Mac
  1. Click on the Apple menu in the top-left corner of the screen, and select System Preferences.

  2. Click on Displays.

  3. Click on the Arrangement tab.

  4. In the Arrangement tab, you should see a representation of your displays. Drag the white bar at the top of one display and drag it to the other display to extend your desktop.

  5. You can also drag the displays to rearrange them, so the position of the external monitor matches its physical location relative to your Mac.

  6. Once you have finished configuring the display settings, close the System Preferences window to save the changes.

That's it! The external monitor should now be extended, and you can drag windows between your laptop display and the external monitor.

DocCam

The DocCam can be used to stream the written notes onto either projector or the classroom preview monitor.

  1. Open the DocCam window on the Crestron panel by selecting the DocCam tab.

  2. Tap the red X under each display option.

  3. Tap the send button.

  4. Your DocCam notes should appear on the the selected screens.

To stop streaming to any display, tap the green checkmark underneath the display icon and tap the send button again to update your change.
