Linking a Vevox Session to a LEARN Course

If you are using Vevox in your course, one of the benefits of linking a Vevox session to LEARN is that it allows for the automatic transfer of grades from the Vevox session to LEARN.

Creating a link in LEARN to a Vevox Session

1. In the Content area of LEARN, click on the Existing Activities button within the Module you wish to add the link to and choose Vevox 1.3.

2. If you already have a session in Vevox that you wish to link to, skip to Step 4.
   If you have not created any sessions in Vevox before (or you do not want to link to any of the available sessions), click the plus (+) button to create a new Session.

3. Give your session a name that includes your course code and a date, term, or other identifiable information to keep your sessions in Vevox organized and easy to find.

   Click Create.
   
   

4. Choose the session you wish to link to.

    

5. Choose the activity within the session that you wish to link to. You can either link to the Live polling questions in the session or you can link to a specific Survey or Quiz within the session if you have created these in your session. The activity you choose will determine which activity’s grades get sent back to LEARN, if you choose to send grades, and will also direct the participants to the appropriate activity.

    

6. Finally, choose the identification settings you wish to use and what you wish to do for grading.

   • IMPORTANT: If you choose Anonymous, participant information will NOT be captured in Vevox and you will not be able to send grades to LEARN for this session.

   • If you choose Identified, you then have the option to send a grade for Correct answers, a grade for Participation, both, or neither.

   • If you choose both, two grade items will be created in LEARN. Participation grade items in LEARN will always have the word “participation” appended to the end of the grade item's name.

   • The point value you choose will be what the LEARN grade item is out of. Any grades transferred from Vevox to LEARN will be scaled to match the point value in LEARN. We recommend that you use the same number of points in Vevox and LEARN to avoid confusion (e.g. if you have 10 points in Vevox, use 10 points in LEARN).
     
     

7. Click Done.

Important Notes about Live Polling Grades

• The grades sent back to LEARN are based on the polling questions that have been previously opened to participants. If you have built additional polling questions and have not yet opened them, these will not be counted in the grades.

• Each polling question asked is weighted equally.

• Only polling questions that have a correct answer identified will count towards the Correct Answers grade.

• Grades push back to LEARN after every polling question is closed. Therefore, it is recommended that you hide the LEARN grade item to prevent your students from receiving a grade notification from LEARN after every question.
