Logging in

Local users, like the root account, must log in with the login box. Regular users should click the Login with ADFS button.

After a user logs in for the first time, they may need permissions mapped to their account. If the IPAM button is not visible in the menu bar (see 8 below), please submit a Jira request.

IPAM

Most administrators will spend all of their time in the IPAM tool.

The root of the IPAM hierarchy is called the Space. Clicking the University of Waterloo space will enter the All networks view. The IPAM menu bar will highlight Networks and the breadcrumb bar will shift to the right, highlighting All networks.

  1. The list view now displays all of the network blocks, and subnets. Fields which are underlined are clickable and will navigate you to that object. A usage visualization and percentage are displayed, as well as all class attributes, like Primary OU and Purpose. Extensible attributes are now referred to as class attributes.

  2. The toolbar contains operations like CSV import and export. The available buttons may change depending on user rights.

  3. IPv4 and IPv6 toggle. White text on a grey background means that the button is selected.

  4. The expand and collapse toggle. This will flatten or expand the network hierarchy.

  5. The template list. In this context, a template refers to a group of displayed class attributes. The default template can be modified to show or hide fields.

  6. The filter bar. Any of the column headings can be used as a filter. You can type in the bar, or click the filter icon to create custom filters.

  1. The menu bar can be collapsed by pressing the hamburger icon.

  2. The tree view pane can be enabled and expanded to show the network hierarchy and the list view at the same time.

  3. The list view is updated to display the addresses within the network.

  4. A host record enabled for DHCP is indicated by DHCP static in the Type column.

  5. A host record only enabled for DNS is indicated by Regular.

  6. A dynamic DHCP range is indicated by DHCP in the Pool column.

    1. Note that groups of IPs may be collapsed for easy display of the next available address. Click the + on an address to expand the group, as shown by the five IPs highlighted in blue.

  7. The breadcrumb bar is updated. Clicking Network here will navigate to the All networks listing.

    1. Clicking “Campus IPv4 Public” will navigate to the details page of the indicated network.

  8. Clicking the chevron will open an additional menu.

  9. This is similar to point 7.

  10. The grey icon on the right of each address is a shortcut to the details section.
