Teams Commands and Shortcuts

Microsoft Teams includes the ability to use commands and shortcuts to complete task more efficiently.

Slash Commands

These commands can be used in the search bar found at the top of the page

When you type the slash (/) a list of commands appears. You can either click on one of these or type a command yourself. Below is a list of some of the most useful commands.

Offers a list of people to chat with or you can type a name. Instantly goes into a chat with them

/call

Offers a list of people to call or you can type a name. Instantly goes into a call with them

/testcall

Starts a test call to check audio and video quality

/available

Sets your status to available

/busy

Sets your status to busy

/away

Sets your status to away

/brb

Sets your status to be right back

/dnd

Sets your status to do not disturb (you will receive messages but not get pop-up notifications)

/online

Sets your status to online

/offline

Sets your status to offline

/out

Sets your status to out-of-office and allows you to set an out-of-office message

/calendar

View your calendar to join or schedule meetings

/help

Initiates a chat with Teams' help bot

Keyboard Shortcuts

Keyboard shortcuts can be used on any page in Teams for navigation and more. They all involve pressing Ctrl if on Windows and Cmd if on Mac as well as another key. Here is a list of some of the most useful ones.
