Installing software delivered as a .zip file (Windows)

Many software programs are packaged up in .zip archive files to make them easier to download. Windows is happy to show you the contents of the .zip file when you open it but you cannot run setup programs from within the .zip file. You need to extract the files from the archive first

 Instructions

  1. Find the downloaded or delivered .zip file using Windows Explorer

  2. Right-click on the .zip file and choose the option to “Extract all”

  3. Browse to a destination folder for the extracted files

  4. Click on Extract (with the option to “Show extracted files when completed” enabled/checked)

  5. Run the setup.exe when the extract process finishes and you see the extracted files
