Add Linked Fields to Jira

To create a linked field properly in a Jira project:

  1. Access Project Settings:

    • In the left-hand menu, click on Project Settings.

  2. Go to Request Types:

    • Under Request types, select the request type where you want to add the custom field.

  3. Customize Fields:

    • In the settings, click on Fields.

    • You’ll see a list of existing fields. click on + create a field.

  4. Create a Custom Field:

    • Choose the type of field you want to add (e.g., Checkbox, Dropdown, Date, etc.).

    • Name your field and configure any additional options as needed.

    • Click Create or Add to finalize the creation.

  5. Add the Field to Your Request Types or forms:

    • Once created, make sure to drag and drop the field into the appropriate section of the issue layout.

    • Save your changes.

  6. Configure Field Context (if needed):

    • If the field should only be visible under certain conditions, configure the field context or visibility settings within the issue type settings.
