Sidebar

The Sidebar complementary content type may be attached to one individual page on a WCMS 3 site. It may be used to add additional information, provide related links, promote social media accounts, etc. Sidebar content generates on the right side of the web page; the existing layout will accommodate the width of the sidebar for the whole length of the page.

Note: The use of sidebar content is not recommended on WCMS 3. The 2-column section (larger left, 66%, 33%) may be used in place of sidebar content.

Create a Sidebar

  1. From the administration bar, select Workbench, and then select My Dashboard.

  2. Navigate to Content types, then select Add next to Sidebar.

  3. In the Attach to page field begin typing the Web page you would like to add the sidebar to and select it from the drop-down list that appears. The title of the sidebar will be the same as the Web page it is attached to and will update if the attached page changes.

  4. Ensure the Save as: drop-down menu is set as Draft.

  5. Select Save.

  6. The Layout builder will automatically appear. Add your desired content here using Sections and Blocks.

  7. Select Published from the Change to: drop-down menu for the sidebar to be visible on the page it is attached to.

  8. Select Save layout.

Edit a Sidebar

  1. From the administration bar, select Workbench, then select My Dashboard. 

  2. Navigate to the Content list and select the sidebar that you wish to edit. You may search for it by the name of the web page it is attached to, or filter Type to only display Sidebars.

  3. Select Layout. 

  4. Make the required changes and select Save layout.Â
