Contact

Contacts appear on the Contact listing page. Contacts will appear in alphabetical order unless sorted - see: How to sort and group Contacts.

Note: Content authors cannot create Contacts.


Create a Contact (WatIAM userid)

  1. From the administration bar, select Workbench, then select My Dashboard.

  2. Navigate to the Content Types panel and select Add next to Contact

  3. Enter the Name and the Name for sorting purposes with the format Last name, First name

  4. Insert an optional Listing page image by selecting Add media. This image will appear as a thumbnail on the Contacts listing page. You can only have one listing page image.

  5. Add content to the Summary field. This is a brief summary, you will enter the full details of the Contact when configuring the layout.

  6. Enter the Affiliation and Title, Position, or Description

  7. You have the option to include a Link to Additional Information, a Link to Personal Website or CV, and/or a Link to Profile.

  8. In the Meta tag information for social media sharing/search/etc. panel, the Description of content field is mandatory for the page to be published. Enter a brief and concise description of the profile. Additionally, you can add an optional Associated image. This image will be used as a thumbnail in social networks and other services.

  9. Select Save.

  10. Add any additional content to the profile page through the Layout tab.

  11. When you are ready to publish, select the drop-down menu next to Change to: and select Published.

  12. Select Save Layout.

Delete a Contact

  1. From the Administration bar, select Workbench, and then select My Dashboard.

  2. Navigate to the Content list panel and select the Contact you would like to delete.

  3. Select the Delete tab.

  4. Then select Delete.

Edit a Contact

  1. Select the Contact you wish to edit.

  2. Select the Edit tab to view/edit the Contact fields.

  3. Select Save.

Add an OPB profile link to a Contact

OPB is a database currently used by the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Science.

In order for a Contact to be able to link to an OPB profile, OPB must be enabled on the site. Site owners have permissions to enable OPB settings.

  1. Select the Contact you wish to edit.

  2. Select the Edit tab to view/edit the Contact fields.

  3. In either the Link to Profile field or the Link to Personal Website or CV field, enter
    /profile/watiamid (replace “watiamid” with the staff member’s specific WatIAM ID).

  4. Select Save.

The link will only work if both conditions are met:

  • the UW staff member has an OPB profile

  • OPB settings have been enabled on the site by a Site owner
