Overview:

  • The objective of the project

Requirements:

  • 1 KM Beyond Visual Line of Sight
  • Two Data Link:
    • 900 Mhz emergency fallback
    • 5.8 Ghz High bandwidth video and control signal communication
  • Good antenna clearance
  • Re-establish connection after link failed


Constraint:

  • Due to limited bandwidth currently in Mech, the 5.8 Ghz directional antenna router needs to be designed in a black box solution.


Nice to have:

  • link quality monitoring
  • 5.8 Ghz router using AHRS to keep pointing at ground station

Interface:

  • 900 Mhz USB connection to the system
  • 5.8 Ghz Ethernet connection to the system
  • Both transmit and receive TCP packet, which encodes the ROS2 topic

Design validation decussion
