Accessing streaming content in MediaNet

Note

A login is not required to search for media.

Step-by-step guide

  1. To view titles that are available for streaming through MediaNet, go to: https://media.dymaxion.ca/display/082/wwk770. A login is not required.

  2. Click on the Search tab.

  3. Enter your search terms into the Search field. From the Format drop-down menu, select Video Streams (VS) to filter your search results to show only streams. Click Submit next to the Search field. 

     

  4. Select your desired title from your search results.

     

  5. You will be redirected to a page with the details of your selection. Towards the bottom of the page, there will be a play button or website logo button (depending on the stream source). Click on that button.

     



  6. You will be redirected to a new login window. Log in using the following details: 

    1. First Name: not required

    2. Last Name: Guest

    3. Password: Guest

       

    4. You will be redirected to a webpage with your selected video.

  7. To access the video off-campus:

    1. Right-click over the video URL and click Copy.



    2. Paste the video URL in a new browser window. Add proxy.lib.uwaterloo.ca/login?url= to the front of the URL. For example:

    3. You will be redirected to the page below, where you will be able to log in using your 8-character UWaterloo username @uwaterloo.ca (e.g. j25rober@uwaterloo.ca) and password or your UWaterloo library credentials. 


    4. After you log in, you will be able to access the video.
