New to WCMS 3
Blocks fill the full width of the Section or region within the Section, instead of within a contained margin.
All former WCMS 2 types that begin with the word "embedded" (e.g. embedded call to action) will be available as Block types.
How to add a Block
Blocks are added through a page’s Layout tab.
From the administration bar, select Workbench, and then select My Dashboard.
Navigate to the Content list panel and select the content you would like to edit.
Select the Layout tab.
Select +Add section if applicable.
Select + Add block.
Choose a Block type from the Content list (types of blocks are listed below)
Configure the Block information.
Select Add block.
Change revision state to Draft, Needs Review, Published or Archived. This field is located at the top of the Layout builder page.
Select Save layout.
How to edit a Block
Blocks are edited through a page’s Layout tab.
Hover and select the pencil icon on the upper right of the Block.
Select Configure. The Configure block window will show the options associated with the Block type.
Make your desired changes and then select Update.
Select Save layout.
How to move a Block
Blocks can be moved through a page’s Layout tab.
Select the pencil icon on the upper right of the Block.
Select Move. The Move block window will show the Region with a drop-down field listing the Sections you can choose to move the Block. You can also move the Block by dragging and dropping the Block into your chosen Section.
Select Move.
Select Save layout.
How to delete a Block
Blocks can be deleted through a page’s Layout tab.
Select the pencil icon in the upper right of the Block.
Select Remove block. The delete Block window will ask you if you are sure you want to remove the Block. This action cannot be undone.
Select Remove.
Select Save layout.
Types of Blocks
Content
Banner image: a banner photo with a caption and optional link that can rotate through 8 different pictures/videos as a slideshow.
Blockquote: emphasizes quotes and text in a contained space with an option to display a title and quote attribution (smaller text under the Quote text).
Call to action: prompt on a website that directs the user to take a specified action.
Copy text: text content.
Expand/collapse: hide content under headings that users can click on to view the hidden information below.
Facts and figures: a visualization of facts and figures about the department/faculty/initiative.
Image: adds a full-width or sized image on a page or Section region.
Image gallery: showcase a selection of images with optional captions.
Mailman subscription: allows site visitors to sign up for a mailing list registered with the Mailman service.
Related links: adds links with link text onto a page.
Timeline: lets site visitors scroll through past, present, and future events. These events can be marked with text, images, or both.
