Forwarding email as an attachment using your mobile device

For reporting malicious or spam email to IST Security (soc@uwaterloo.ca), they request that your send the email as an attachment (see: Identifying and reporting phishing emails for details). How to forward an email as an attachment has information on how to do this from a computer but, if you are using Outlook as your mail app on your mobile device, it is possible to forward emails as attachments from your mobile device.

Note: The Mail app from Apple does not allow you to forward emails a attachments on iOS devices.

 Outlook on iOS (iPhone, iPad)

Health Computing recommend using Outlook as the email app on your iOS devices to access your University of Waterloo email. To forward an email as an attachment using Outlook for iOS:

  1. Open the email that you want to forward

  2. Click on the More option at the top (the three dots )

  3. Tap the Forward as Attachment option.

  4. Compose and send the email (note that the message has an email message as an attachment)

 Outlook on Android

To forward an email as an attachment using Outlook for Android:

  1. Open the email that you want to forward

  2. Click on the More option at the top right (the three vertical dots)

  3. Tap the Forward as an attachment option

  4. Compose and send the email (note that the message has an email message as an attachment)
