Recovering previous versions of files on a network drive
The content of network drives (R:\ and research drives/folders) is backed up every hour, as well as weekly and monthly. Using Windows, you can retrieve these backups easily. This is very useful for recovering deleted files or files that have been modified. You can restore an entire drive, a folder, or a single file.
Instructions
Open File Explorer and go to This PC.
Right-click on the drive/folder/file you want to restore and select Show more options.
Select Restore previous versions.
Select one of restore points and click Restore.
Alternatively, you can select one of the restore points and click Open. You will then be able to select and open individual files.
