A document library provides a secure place to store files where you and your co-workers can find them easily, work on them together, and access them from any device at any time.   Additional resources are listed below on how to create and use a document library effectively:

Uploading documents to SharePoint Online

Uploading documents to SharePoint Online (SPO) is easily accomplished using 1 of 2 methods: Drag and Drop, or using the ‘Upload’ tool.  Document libraries that require additional information (metadata) will be marked with a red question mark. 

Uploading documents: Upload files and folders to a library (microsoft.com) 

  • Edit or Contribute Permission Required 

  • All file types are accepted.  Some file types won’t be able to open or run without additional setup. 

  • Internet Explorer does not support uploading folders. 

Permissions for sharing documents

Permissions are set either at the site level or through links. The link below is for the latter method.    

Custom views

Settings custom views will provide your end-user with a better experience.  SharePoint’s default views usually display a lot of additional information which may not be relevant to your users.  Learning to control what is displayed will reduce clutter, and save time. Please see the following:

Syncing

The syncing feature allows you to access your SPO files through File Explorer even when you’re offline, providing more flexibility and reducing the time by not needing to open a browser. Note if you delete a file from File Explorer, it will be deleted from both locations.
