If you have Dropbox assignments in a course and you intend to use the same assignment in another course you teach, you will be able to copy this Dropbox assignment to another course you teach.

Note: Instructors must have permission in LEARN for both the originating and destination courses.

The copied Dropbox folder includes the following key Dropbox properties:

  • Dropbox folder and properties, including instructions, Dropbox category, and visibility

  • Dropbox properties including description, attachments (direct file attachments, uploaded from Google Workspace or OneDrive, and audio and video files), and category

  • Grade item and grade category

  • Availability dates

  • Submission and completion information, including the Optional Grade item and the course scheme if used.

  • Rubric(s) associated with the Dropbox. When copying a Dropbox that uses a shared rubric, instead of linking a copied Dropbox to a shared rubric, the rubric is also copied. The copied Dropbox links to the copied rubric. If a Dropbox uses a rubric that is archived, the rubric is copied and retains the archived state in the destination courses.

The following will not be copied:

  • Instruction quick links and attachment resources created with the Attach link to existing activity action.

  • Instruction images added using Insert Image that were saved to course files.

  • Availability Release conditions and special access settings

  • Submission and completion information including group Dropbox designation.

  • Evaluation and Feedback information including Turnitin associations, competency, and outcome associations.

  • Content topic associations (for example, if the Dropbox is linked from content)

NOTE: In some cases, references to links and images that are not copied may result in broken links.

Step by Step

1. In LEARN, go to the course you want to copy the Dropbox Assignment from

2. Select Submit from the course navbar

3. Click the drop-down menu beside the Dropbox Assignment

4. Select Copy to Other Courses as shown below

5. On the Copy Dropboxes dialogue, select the checkbox beside the Dropbox folder you intend to copy as shown in the image below. Then click Next.
You will be able to select the associated rubrics and grade items and choose destinations.

6. The Choose Destinations area enables you to search by keyword or semester to find the destination courses for the Dropbox. Only course offerings for which you have editing permissions appear in the Choose Destinations list. By default, the maximum number of courses you can select is 10.

7. Once you have selected the Destination Course(s), Rubrics, Grade Items, click Copy in the lower left as shown in the image below.

8. Click Done in the lower left when the copy completes, or you can navigate away, and a minibar notification will indicate when the Dropbox has been copied to all the destination courses.

Note, if you have already used the Import/Export tool to copy all Dropboxes to the destination course, please don’t use this tool as it will duplicate the Dropbox in the destination course.
