I didn’t know what to put here. Congratulations for finding this!

This article only applies to users with a Skype for Business phone extension. Skype for Business phone extensions will start with the number 4.

There are three different ways of calling people in Skype for Business; search for a user, search for an extension, or dial a number.

Search for a user name

  1. Click the Contacts tab or the dial pad tab and search for the user.

  2. Right-click the user's profile and move your cursor over “Call”. From the new menu, choose the option you want to use to call them.

Search for an extension

Users that have not set up their extension with their Skype profile will not appear.

  1. Click the Contacts tab or the dial pad tab and type in the university phone number followed by x#####. Note: you will need to include the dashes in the phone number. See image below.

  2. Right-click the user’s profile and move your cursor over “Call”. From the new menu, choose the option you want to use to call them.

Call through the dial pad (external contacts)

  1. Select the Dial pad tab from the top ribbon

  2. This dial pad functions similarly to a standard phone dial pad - simply dial the number and click Call.

Adding contacts to favourites

  1. Right-click the profile you to add and select Add to favorites.

  2. The contact will now shop up in the “favorites” group. This group is accessible under the “Groups” tab of the “Contacts” page.
