Domain name and IP management

About this service

IST provides registration for both http://uwaterloo.ca hostnames and external domain names, and manages campus DHCP configurations.

http://uwaterloo.ca hostnames are managed using the Infoblox system.

For staff and faculty wishing to register an external domain name and associate it with a system on the University wired network, IST can register the domain and perform all related configuration tasks. Prior to engaging IST, interested parties are asked to first seek approval from the the Manager, Web Strategy in University Relations and the Manager, Web Development in IST.

How to request this service	Submit a request using the IP request form Average length of time to complete request: DNS changes and additions can be fulfilled within one business day.

Pricing/cost	Registration of internal http://uwaterloo.ca hostnames is free of charge, and there is no cost associated with the registration of an external domain name whose use has been approved by the relevant parties as described above.
