How to register your iClicker remote or REEF polling account in Waterloo LEARN

Check with your instructor to find out how they will be using iClickers in class, which devices they will allow students to use, and which iClicker software they are using. There are different registration processes depending on the device you use and the software your instructor has chosen.

Registering your iClicker Remote in LEARN

  1. Login to UWaterloo LEARN and select the course that is using iClickers for the specific term

  2. Find the registration link within your course

  3. Navigate to Content and to the module that contains the link.

iClicker Registration in your course (your instructor is using iClicker Classic)

If you see a topic in the Content section of your course called iClicker Registration and you are using an iClicker remote:

  1. Click on the iClicker Registration link

  2. Enter the serial number found on the back of your iClicker Remote.

  3. Leave the email address as your 8-character username @uwaterloo.ca (e.g. j25rober@uwaterloo.ca) 

  4. The country should be changed to Canada

This process does not work using the Safari browser.

iClicker REEF registration in your course (your instructor is using iClicker Cloud)

If you see a topic in the Content section of your course called "iClicker REEF" and you are using an iClicker remote:

  1. Click on the iClicker REEF link

  2. Sign in if you already have a REEF account otherwise click on the Sign Up link

  3. Find your Institution by searching for: University of Waterloo

  4. Click Next

  5. Enter your first name, last name, 8-character username @uwaterloo.ca (e.g. j25rober@uwaterloo.ca) and 8-character username (e.g. j25rober) as they appear in Waterloo LEARN

  6. Review the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use, and check the box to accept

  7. Click Next

  8. Create a password - this password should be different from your UWaterloo password

  9. Click Create Account

Note

You will see a message regarding a free two week trial. If you are exclusively using an iClicker remote, you are not required to purchase a REEF subscription at any point.

10. Once your account is created, you will be asked if you want to Register your Remote. Click Yes, register a remote

11. Enter the remote's serial number (on the back of the remote) into the Remote ID field.

12. Click Save

Registering your REEF Account in LEARN

iClicker Registration in your course (your instructor is using iClicker Classic)

  1. You won't be able to register your REEF account through LEARN so download the REEF app for IOS or Android, or access REEF through a web browser.

  2. If you already have a REEF account, sign in. If you don’t have an account, click on the Sign Up link

  3. Find your Institution by searching for: University of Waterloo

  4. Click Next

  5. Enter your first name, last name, 8-character username @uwaterloo.ca (e.g. j25rober@uwaterloo.ca) and 8-character username (e.g. j25rober) as they appear in Waterloo LEARN

This must be done so that the software will be able to determine who you are in the Waterloo LEARN class list. If this step is not completed, you may not be assigned any grades for your participation in the polling sessions.

6. Review the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use, and check the box to accept

7. Click Next

8. Create a password - this password should be different from your UWaterloo password

9. Click Create Account

iClicker REEF registration in your course (your instructor is using iClicker Cloud)

  1. Click on the iClicker REEF link

  2. If you already have a REEF account, sign in. If you don’t have an account, click on the Sign Up link

  3. Find your Institution by searching for: University of Waterloo

  4. Click Next

  5. Enter your first name, last name, 8-character username @uwaterloo.ca (e.g. j25rober@uwaterloo.ca) and 8-character username (e.g. j25rober) as they appear in Waterloo LEARN

  6. Review the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use, and check the box to accept

  7. Click Next

  8. Create a password - this password should be different from your UWaterloo password

  9. Click Create Account
