Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD/WVD) FAQs
Note: formerly known as Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD)
Q: When do I use Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD)?
A: AVD is a cloud solution to support teaching applications which allow users to access the software from anywhere.
Q: Are there any time limits to be aware of when using AVD?
A. If your session is inactive for 15 minutes, your session will be in disconnect mode. You can restore your session within an hour. After one hour, however, the session will be terminated.
Q: What do I need to know when requesting the installation of new or upgraded software on the AVD?
The AVD is upgraded each term.
Request for new and/or upgraded software for teaching purposes must be provided by the faculty computing unit at least 30 days before the start of the next academic term.
Note that not all applications support the AVD multi-session environment.
For all software requests, it is the responsibility of the requestor to perform the tests to verify that the installation is working correctly.
