Map your Computer to Network Drives

Windows

  1. Open File Explorer.

  2. Click This PC.

  3. In the top bar, click Computer then click Map network drive.

  4. Set the Drive to R: and the Folder to \\filed\campuswellness$

  5. Click Reconnect at logon then click Finish.

  6. You should now be able to access the drive in File Explorer, under This PC, in Network locations:

NOTE: You must be connected to the VPN in order to access Network Drives when you are working from home.

This network drive connects to the shared drive for Accuro. It is only used for scanning and indexing purposes.

  1. Open File Explorer.

  2. Click This PC.

  3. In the top bar, click Computer then click Map network drive.

  4. Set the Drive to L: and the Folder to \\linseeds\D\ReadyForAccuro 

  5. Click Reconnect at logon then click Finish.

  6. You should now be able to access the drive in File Explorer, under This PC, in Network locations.

NOTE: You must be connected to the VPN in order to access Network Drives when you are working from home.

Turn on Internet Explorer mode in Microsoft Edge

  1. Open Microsoft Edge.

  2. Click the triple dots (…) in the top-right corner.

  3. Select the Settings option.

  4. Click Default browser on the left.

  5. Under the Internet Explorer compatibility section, set Allow sites to be reloaded in Internet Explorer mode (IE mode) to Allow.

  6. Restart Microsoft Edge.

Add SharePoint to Trusted Sites

  1. Open Control Panel and go to Network and Internet then choose Internet Options.

  2. Switch to the Security tab, then select Trusted sites (see image below).

  3. Click Sites.

  4. Under Add this web site to the zone, enter https://uofwaterloo.sharepoint.com and click Add > Close > OK.

Get the address details of the SharePoint location

  1. Open https://uofwaterloo.sharepoint.com/sites/CampusWellness/ in Microsoft Edge (yes, this needs to be done in that browser or this part won’t work).

  2. Navigate in SharePoint to the folder/area you wish to map (e.g., https://uofwaterloo.sharepoint.com/sites/CampusWellness/IFAS/AllStaffMeetings).

  3. Once there, click the triple dots (…) at the top-right and choose Reload in Internet Explorer mode. Click Done in the prompt that opens.

  4. Now use the tabs at the top to select Library.

  5. Select Open with Explorer. Windows File Explorer will open.

  6. Select the address box and copy the address shown there.

Map a drive to your document library

  1. Open File Explorer.

  2. In the pane on the left, right-click Network and select Map network drive….

  3. Click the link named Connect to a web site that you can use to store your documents and pictures.

  4. Click Next, then Choose a custom network location, and Next again to walk through the informational steps of the Add Network Location wizard.

  5. In the Internet or network address box, paste the address you copied from File Explorer earlier (e.g., https://uofwaterloo.sharepoint.com/sites/CampusWellness/IFAS/AllStaffMeetings), then select Next.

  6. Enter a descriptive name for your network location. This name will appear as an entry in the left pane of File Explorer, under This PC or My Computer, next to a folder icon.

  7. Select Next, then select Finish. In File Explorer, the mapped library appears as a folder item under This PC.

Ensure Accuro can see your drive

Accuro can’t see the folder you created above so you need to map to it using the method below.

  1. Go back to File Explorer and click This PC.

  2. Click Map network drive found at the top.

  3. Choose a drive letter (e.g., Z) from the drop-down menu.

  4. In Location, enter the address you copied from File Explorer earlier (e.g., https://uofwaterloo.sharepoint.com/sites/CampusWellness/IFAS/AllStaffMeetings).

  5. Ensure Reconnect at sign-in is checked.

  6. Click Finish.

iOS

  1. Click Go and select Connect to Server.

  2. In the Connect to Server window enter smb://filed.uwaterloo.ca/campuswellness$

  3. The contents of the network drive will be opened in Finder and a drive icon may appear on the desktop.
