While working from home, a Skype for Business (S4B) extension allows you to make and receive calls through your computer and be identified as a University of Waterloo caller.

...

Please have your department’s administrator submit a request for the new S4B extension. The request should be sent to rt-IST-ISC-SkypeTeams@rt.uwaterloo.causing this form: https://uwaterloo.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/2/group/412/create/1703 and include the following information:

  • the work order to which the monthly charge and any long-distance charges should be applied

  • username (your username is your 8-character UWaterloo username, i.e. j25rober@uwaterloo.ca)

  • current phone extension of the user (if none, please indicate)

  • location- building, room/cubicle number

...

  • All S4B extensions begin with 4 (e.g 4xxxxx).

  • If you currently have a 3xxxx extension at the University of Waterloo, we can migrate it to a S4B extension. The first digit of your extension would change to 4. For example, extension # 30300 would migrate to extension # 40300. If extension 40300 is not available, you will be assigned with a different S4B extension number.

  • Your telephone/desktop telephone will be no longer be compatible with a S4B extension. Please review Skype Hardware - IST Recommendations

  • Once your 3xxxx extension is changed/migrated to a S4B extension, this change will not be reverted back.

...

If you do not have a 3xxxx extension at the University of Waterloo, we will assign you a new S4B extension.
