Getting Started with Atlassian Assets

Atlassian Assets is Jira Service Management’s native asset and configuration management tool. It gives teams a flexible and dynamic way to track assets and configuration items (CIs), enabling teams to easily link them to service requests, incidents, problems, changes, and workloads.

To request a new Assets object schema, access to an existing object schema, or support with an existing object schema please contact IST’s Atlassian Support.

Assets roles and permissions

Note: Users require the object schema manager role to make changes to roles in the object schema. Manage role access can be requested from IST’s Atlassian Support.

Object schemas

An object schema is a collection of information in Assets used to track assets, configuration items, and resources, and to understand and visualize the critical relationships between them.

Object types

An object type represents a group of similar objects in an object schema.

Attributes

An attribute is a specific piece of information that is attached to an object.

References

A reference is a connection between two different objects in Assets.

Importing data into Assets

Importing is a way to bring outside data into Assets and automatically convert it into Assets object types, objects, attributes, and references.

Currently, you can import data from CSV, JSON, and Assets Discovery. You can also use our REST API framework to import data from external sources.

Creating a Assets objects custom field allows your team to access Assets objects directly from the issue view in Jira Service Management.
