Facebook open graph meta tags

WCMS 3 supports Facebook Open Graph meta tags. The Open Graph meta tags allow you to control how your WCMS 3 page is displayed on a Facebook post and other social networking sites such as Pinterest, LinkedIn, etc.

Configure Open Graph meta tags

  1. From the administration bar, select Workbench, and then select My Dashboard.

  2. Navigate to the Content types panel.

  9. Add a Title.

    • Note: The [current-page:metatag:title] token will pull the text from the page's Title field and use it as the title.

  10. In the Description field, enter a description that summarizes the content of the page in one or two sentences.

    • Note: The [current-page:metatag:description] token will pull the text from the Description of content field and use it as the description.

  11. In the Image field, enter the URL for an image that represents the contents of the page. Multiple values may be used, separated by a comma.

    • Note: If multiple images are added, many services (e.g., Facebook) will default to the largest image, not specifically the first one. The [node:field_uw_meta_image:entity:field_media_image] token will pull the image from the Listing page image.

  12. Enter the Image URL for an image that represents the page. This field has the same purpose as the Image field.

  13. In the Image type field, enter the file type of the image (e.g. 'image/gif' for a GIF image, 'image/jpeg' for a JPG/JPEG image, or 'image/png' for a PNG image). There should be one value for each image in the Image field.

    • Note: If there are more values than there are images, this may cause issues.

  14. Enter the Image width and Image height in their respective fields.

  15. If you would like to add a video that represents the page instead, follow steps 13 to 15 for the respective Video URL, Video type, Video width and Video height fields.

  16. Enter alternative text in the Image ‘alt’ field. The alt text should be a description of what is in the image, not a caption.

  17. In the See also field enter the URLs of related content, if applicable.

  18. In the Article author field enter the URL of the author’s Facebook profile or Profile ID, if applicable. This links the article to the author’s Facebook profile.

  19. In the Article publisher field enter the URL of the publisher’s Facebook page, if applicable. This links the article to the publisher’s Facebook page.

  20. Enter the keywords for the content in the Article tag(s) field, if applicable.

  21. Select the state from the Save as: drop-down menu.

  22. Select Save
